Me on a Sketch Book

Picture
September 27, 2018

The main projects we were required, create sketchbook use in CFPA Art 2 year 2018-2019. For my sketchbook, I choose to show the things that I'm obsessed with in my life. The reason behind making a sunset in the background because I adore seeing the sunset. Especially, seeing it in Hawaii. I chose a video gamer controller because I LOVE playing and watching video games. One day I hope to become a pro video game player on YouTube. I also chose a Hawaiian flower called a Hibiscus because they are my favorite flowers and since I lived in Hawaii and I miss it very much. The gymnast was drawn because I've been a gymnast my whole life since I've been 3 years old. Gymnastics is my passion and it will also be, even when I'm old. Last but not least, I chose a mandala to symbolize it's ok to be different and everybody isn't perfect nor do they have to be. It also reminds me to have faith and a positive mindset. The process of making my sketchbook including all the designs on it; figuring out what will be on my sketchbook and draw on it. Next, choosing the types of paper, I would want in my book. Then, binding it all together which is sewing it together using the Coptic stitch or sewing method. I used a few different types of media to create my sketchbook. For the background, I used acrylic paint,  different varieties of pencils to draw the pictures, and used different thickness of pens to outline everything.

The meaning behind my piece was to create shapes and colors that describe me. I chose to have my clay represent a brown paper bag. The reason behind this, I can fold and bend and I will still be the same. In the front, I chose my initial and adjectives that describe me:  Amazing, Artistic, Artistic Gymnastics, and Asthmatic. I chose a Hawaiian flower because they are my favorite flowers and symbolize I used to live in Hawaii. The colors I used also represent Hawaii's sunset and their crystal blue water at the bottom.  The process of creating this piece; figuring out a geometric shape I want and details that will be on it. Second, choosing the colors and which one will go on the top. After I come up with my design, I get as much clay I need and flat it out with a (). In addition to doing that, I would use a scraper to smooth my clay to get rid of the material print. Afterward, I use the loop tool to draw and cut out my designs on the clay. I also used it for the sides of the clay to simply remove part of it to have a folded effect. Lastly, I score and slip the pieces together. Days later, I get my colors and start glazing.

The prompt I chose was to spill tea or coffee. I wanted to do this prompt because it seemed interesting and fun. The hard part was to figure out what to draw. I chose to draw a ballet dancer because ballet dancers are graceful and they flow with music just like water. The process of this piece was to use different pencil media to have volume, contrast, and negative spaces.

This was a mini data project we had to create in our sketchbooks. The reason I chose this because it's something different and looking around my classroom, I saw nobody tracking anything that involved YouTube. The process of making this was, deciding what and how I'm going to track it. I chose to track how long I'm on YouTube for and what I'm watching. The materials I used were glittery pens from a friend and a cherry red marker.

Water Art Invitational

The piece I've created was accepted to participate in the Water Art Invitational. The materials behind this consist of oil pastels, different blending tools, and most importantly lots of love.

The last sketchbook of my sophomore year, I decided to have a sketchbook dedicated to my favorite season, summer. The processing of starting this sketchbook was to ask my classmates, what colors make you think of summer. Light blue, aqua blue, and yellow were most commonly said. So the next step making this masterpiece was making the colors. For the background, I used acrylic paint. I also used tape to section off the paper to have an equal amount of coloring. Afterward, I print out pictures that pertain to summer. Next, I cut them out, and cover them step by step with packaging tape. In the meantime, I put them in a cup of water for about a minute or so. Afterward, I let them dry for 30 seconds and either use my nails or scissors to scrape off the back. Lastly, I place them in my sketchbook. Finally, I draw patterns to have the whole thing pop out and to get rid of the negative spaces.
